Flattening the curve is of top priority for almost every country today. Unless they are able to flatten the curve, peoples’ lives, as well as the economy, are in severe danger.

In the absence of a direct cure for COVID-19, the only way to flatten the curve is by enforcing social distancing and foreseeing the chances of a citizen getting infected. Social distancing, however, comes at a cost of the economy's slow down.

To effectively flatten the curve, every single person should put effort to counter the spread of the virus. For that, Governments need to analyze the potential COVID-19 exposure of each citizen and issue health cards based on that.

RebuildTheChain is a pandemic management system that can enable governments to effectively curb the pandemic with large scale and automated contact tracing, exposure analysis, spread probability analysis, self-diagnosis, and case management. It also facilitates a digital health card-based access system that can help governments to revive the struggling economy.

Getting the Economy Up & Running

A partial locked down of the economy is always better than a complete lockdown. To facilitate a partial economic lockdown, governments can issue digital health cards to citizens to represent their risk level. Access to any public/private infrastructure should be granted only after scanning their health cards. Health card based access for the citizens can enable governments to enforce partial lockdowns rather than a complete lockdown that could tremble the economy.

The system assigns health cards to a user based on their recent activities, such as the places they have visited and the people they have interacted with, etc. The health card indicates the threat level of a user in five different color codes;

Does RebuildTheChain have access to user data?
No. RebuildTheChain is hosted on on-premise servers. Every data is encrypted and stored in on-premise databases that are not accessible to anyone outside the organization.
How is the location of the users tracked?
A user’s location is tracked using a combination of three methods for high precision. GPS location, Bluetooth vicinity data, and cellular network triangulation are used to pinpoint the location and movements of a user.
Do you need a specific scanner application to verify the digital health cards ?
No. verifying the digital health card can be done via the default QR code scanner available in almost every smartphones today. The verification details will be displayed in the web browser.

However, we have also developed a scanner application for those don’t have a default QR scanner in their smartphone.
How is the user data protected?
All data collected in the platform is encrypted. As an additional layer of security, the platform is deployed on-premises of the owner and protected by its internal firewall. The privacy and integrity of user data is protected not only from external attackers but also from unauthorized access by saving the health records in a blockchain network. The platform as a whole is GDPR compliant.
What is the pricing model?
The platform charges only a minimal implementation cost. Additional cost is applicable if you need any extra customizations to the platform.
What platforms are supported?
The user side mobile application is available in iOS and Android platforms. The Admin side dashboard is a web application that can be accessed from any web browser.
How does this platform keep track of non-smart phone users?
For non-smartphone users, the platform users cellular network triangulation to pinpoint the location of the user.
How RTC implements contact tracing?
RTC is using sensor fusion technologies(Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and cell phone triangulation) to accurately perform contact tracing and for the human-to-human exposure analysis. Since RTC is also using cell phone triangulation, it can also perform contact tracing for people without smartphones as well, this would facilitate extremely accurate tracing for both developed and developing markets. Also, RTC is compliant with PEPP-PT(Pan-European Privacy-Preserving Proximity Tracing), any country who is using the platform can choose to turn off the functioning of other sensors(available from the dashboard) to be compliant with the regulations.
How RTC does the exposure analysis?
RTC considers two different types of exposures - human to human transmission and human to object/surface to human exposure.

Human to human transmission: Human to human exposure can be calculated with Bluetooth technology. The system is capable of automatically figuring out who else would have been exposed to the virus from a COVID19 affected person. If the country under consideration does not need to comply with PEPP-PT, then the exposure analysis results could be more accurate and holistic.

Human to Surface to Human transmission: This is one of the most essential parts of exposure analysis. Most of the software available in the market ignores this component. Coronavirus can remain in the following surfaces for the given amount of time respectively,

    Airborne droplets - 3 Hours
    Copper - 4 Hours
    Porous surfaces (Cardboard/Paper/Fabrics) - Up to 24 Hrs
    Hard and shiny surfaces (Glass/Countertops/Plastic/Stainless steel) - Upto 72 hours

If an infected person walks into a restaurant and touches any surfaces like handrails, door handles, benches, etc. or any objects like a menu card, POC device, etc., the virus could be transmitted to these surfaces and could remain on that surface based on the above-mentioned points. In the meantime, another person could come to the same restaurant and interact with any of these surfaces to be exposed to the virus. RTC automatically calculates these exposures and dynamically creates dynamic micro hotspots, users are alerted to maintain distance from such hotspots, also these infrastructure owners could be notified to disinfect these infrastructures. This is an extremely important component of exposure analysis which is ignored by most of the software systems out there. Also, this cannot be enabled for an installation that requires to be compliant with the PEPP-PT regulations as this requires GPS data.
How RTC does spread analysis and forecasting?
The spread analysis is done by predicting primary contacts, secondary contact, and hotspots and based on their movements. With this information and the movement of these people, we can accurately predict disease spread and hotspots(micro hotspots and macro hotspots). This also requires GPS data and would not be available for PEPP-PT compliant installation.
How does RTC enable cross-border travel for people?
PANDEMIC-PROOF PASSPORT feature of RebuildTheChain enables countries to be confident that none of the people coming into the country is affected by COVID19. Here, citizens from different countries will have a health card that indicates the health risk level assigned to them via their local health departments. People with ‘NO RISK’ (Green Health card) health cards could only be allowed to travel overseas. Moreover, at places like banks, shopping malls, workplaces, etc, the entry can be allowed only to people with ‘no risk’ health cards.

The user can show the Health Card to authorities who want to check the health status. Upon scanning the QR code, health status and an identification photo of the user will be made accessible
How equipped is RTC to handle Big data?
RTC uses the Apache Hive, which is a data warehouse system built on top of Apache Hadoop that facilitates easy data summarization, ad-hoc queries, and the analysis of large datasets stored in various databases and file systems that integrate with Hadoop, including the MapR Data Platform with MapR XD and MapR Database. Hive offers a simple way to apply structure to large amounts of unstructured data and then perform batch SQL-like queries on that data. Hive easily integrates with traditional data center technologies using the familiar JDBC/ODBC interface. RTC can currently process upto 1.6 PB data/day. RTC can horizontally scale to accommodate 2.6 billion people continuously commuting everyday.
Is it just an app?
No. The platform consists of 2 components. One is the user side mobile application and the other is admin side dashboard.
